MADE History: Eldridge Dickey and Website

We got a website for the comic book project…CLICK.

Currently raising funds again for the program.

As for the football above…Eldridge Dickey was an ambidextrous quarterback drafted by the Oakland Raiders back in ’68. He would have been the 1st African American quarterback to play in the NFL, but was denied the position. He played during an era when black quarterbacks were not considered smart enough to play the position. He was promptly converted to a wide receiver. He never played quarterback in a regular season game.

To help tell his story, when we’ve gone into schools, we’ve brought a group of students to the front of the assembly and had them throw a plush football with both hands, to demonstrate how tough it is to be ambidextrous, and how special Dickey was as a player. He passed away in 2000.
